Metro Vancouver/Derby Reach Brae Island Park Association Brochures

“Heritage Apples”, “Heritage Farms” and “Royal Engineers” are three titles in a suite of brochures prepared for Metro Vancouver/Derby Reach Brae Island Park Association between 2009 and 2011.

These walking tours offer opportunities to learn about the history of Derby Reach through landforms, plants, and artifacts. “Here in Derby Reach,” one brochure notes, “craggy heritage apple trees remind us of the layering of human history on this site – recalling traditional Stò:lō First Nations food practices, the fur trade economy, the flash and flurry of the Gold Rush, and the mixed farming of immigrants to the Langley area for whom the apple meant ‘home.’”
